Did you miss the original shut-down of the WTO in Seattle in ’99?
Allan Sekula and Christopher DeLaurenti bring it to life again in their upcoming exhibits at the Henry Art Gallery in October.
Allan Sekula’s photographic series Waiting for Tear Gas documents the widespread protests set off by the World Trade Organization Ministerial Conference held in Seattle from November 29 to December 3, 1999. The exhibition offers an opportunity to reflect upon this historic moment and the nature of globalism today.

Christopher DeLaurenti: N30, Live at the WTO Protest November 30, 1999 is his four-channel sound installation which couples his footage with police transmissions made on that same day.
